Romans 12:2: "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Have you ever heard the phrase "be in the world, but not of it"? Not all aspects of culture are sinful; things like food and fashion reflect the beauty of diversity. But when it comes to morals, God challenges us to be transformed and set apart. We should always rejoice in our salvation so that rising in the midst of culture is a display of pride in God's work.

Faith-In-Action:
Christians must "walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls us into his own kingdom and glory." We must pursue holiness instead of convenience2 Peter 1:3 tells us that we have "been granted, by the divine power of Christ, all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence." For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live."

Sometimes, there may not be a way out. But that doesn't mean that we can't soar. In fact, our darkest days can even strengthen our faith in God. It is in these moments that we learn to place all our hope in Christ.

Last week we talked about what it truly means to "rise past" the things we face. We talked about how we must look beyond our present troubles and our past hurts in order to grow spiritually. Now we must dive deeper into how we can actually practice this in our own lives. After all, letting go of our burdens is far easier said than done. So how, then, should we approach them?
