Matthew 5:16: "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." In our quickly-expanding world, it's not uncommon to wonder how we can truly stand out and live a life that matters for Christ. But while there may be over eight billion other people on this earth, only you can do the work that God has planned specifically for you. God has placed you right where you are, and wherever you are, He will empower you to rise – no matter what everyone else is doing.
Take a moment and write down how you can shine your light more effectively in the lives of others.

Faith-In-Action:
Pray this with me today, "Here I am, Lord, Use Me!" Are you letting your light shine in the world with 8 Billion people? All you need to do is let the Lord lead you into the good works He has for you. Each of us has different gifts and backgrounds and abilities, and as we say, "Here I am, Lord, use me," He will open up those opportunities and through them be glorified. Let your light shine today by helping somebody with an area of their life.

This week, we'll be transitioning into the idea of rising in it. This idea involves the difficult truth that more often than not, there are things that we can't change. Sometimes, there may not be a way out. But that doesn't mean that we can't soar. In fact, our darkest days can even strengthen our faith in God. It is in these moments that we learn to place all our hope in Christ.

Last week we talked about what it truly means to "rise past" the things we face. We talked about how we must look beyond our present troubles and our past hurts in order to grow spiritually. Now we must dive deeper into how we can actually practice this in our own lives. After all, letting go of our burdens is far easier said than done. So how, then, should we approach them?
